AI Processing

Every item you save to KeepStream is automatically processed by AI. This happens in the background after the content is extracted — you don’t need to do anything.

What gets generated

Categorisation — each item is assigned to one of 15 categories: Technology, Business, Science, Health, Politics, Culture, Sports, Finance, Education, Environment, Entertainment, Food, Travel, Psychology, and Philosophy. This powers category-based filtering and playlists.

Tags — 3 to 8 descriptive tags are generated from the content. Tags are more specific than categories. An article about “remote work burnout” might get categorised as Business but tagged with “remote work,” “burnout,” “mental health,” “workplace culture.” Tags power search and help Insights find relevant content.

Summary — a 2-3 paragraph overview of the key points. The free tier gets a basic summary; Pro users get a more detailed summary with key takeaways highlighted.

Embeddings — a mathematical representation of the content’s meaning. You never see these directly, but they power semantic search and Insights. When you ask Insights a question, embeddings help it find articles that are conceptually related to your query, not just keyword matches.

Processing time

Most items are fully processed within 30-60 seconds of saving. You’ll see a “Processing” indicator on the item until it’s done. Once processing completes, the item is ready for audio playback, search, and all AI features.

Editing categories and tags

AI gets it right most of the time, but not always. You can edit categories and tags manually:

  1. Long-press any item in your library.
  2. Select “Edit Tags & Categories.”
  3. Change the category, add or remove tags.

Your edits are saved and the item’s search embedding is updated to reflect the changes.
