Getting Started (5 articles)
Your First Listen
KeepStream uses AI text-to-speech to read your articles aloud in a natural-sounding voice. Here’s how to get started.
Playing an article
Tap the Play button on any item in your library. The first time you play an article, the audio is generated on demand — this usually takes a few seconds. After that, it’s cached so future plays start instantly.
Two listening modes
Each item has two audio options:
- Summary — a condensed version covering the key points, usually around 2 minutes. Great for deciding if you want the full article.
- Full article — the complete text read aloud. Length depends on the article.
You can switch between modes from the player screen.
Background listening
KeepStream keeps playing when you:
- Lock your phone
- Switch to another app
- Turn off the screen
You’ll see playback controls on your lock screen and in your notification shade, just like a podcast app.
Lock screen and external controls
Play, pause, skip forward, and skip back all work from:
- Your lock screen
- Bluetooth headphones (play/pause button)
- CarPlay and Android Auto
- The persistent mini-player bar at the bottom of the app
Free tier limits
On the free tier, you can generate audio for up to 5 items per month. Saves and summaries are unlimited — the limit only applies to audio playback. Upgrading to Pro removes this limit entirely.
