Audio Won’t Play
If you’re having trouble getting audio to play, work through these steps.
Audio won’t start at all
- Check your internet connection. Audio streams from the cloud, so you need an active connection to start playback.
- Close and reopen the app. This resolves most temporary playback issues.
- Check silent/vibrate mode. On iOS, make sure the physical mute switch on the side of your phone is off. On Android, check that media volume is turned up (separate from ringer volume).
- Bluetooth issues. If you’re using wireless headphones, try disconnecting and reconnecting them. Sometimes the audio route gets stuck.
Audio was working but stopped
Audio URLs expire after 7 days. The app refreshes them automatically, but a force-close or crash can sometimes interrupt this process.
- Tap play again. The URL will refresh and playback should resume.
- If that doesn’t work, close the app fully and reopen it, then try playing again.
”Generating audio” gets stuck
When you play an item for the first time, the audio needs to be generated. This usually takes under 30 seconds.
If it’s been over a minute:
- Close and reopen the item.
- Try again by tapping play.
- If it still won’t generate, tap the three-dot menu > Retry Audio to force a fresh generation.
Long articles take longer to generate than short ones. An article over 5,000 words may take up to a minute.
